Community Foundation celebrate extraordinary milestone

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Community Foundation is proud to be celebrating an extraordinary milestone: over $10 million in grants given back to the community. To mark this achievement and thank everyone who helped make it possible, the Foundation has announced a special one-Ome Community Choice Grant —and they’re inviting the community to participate by nominating a favourite local charitable organisation.

Speaking to a large crowd at their $10 Million Milestone Community Appreciation event on May 8th, Foundation Executive Director Rae-Ann Noonan announced the Community Choice Grant as a way of thanking the community for their work and continued support.

“Our $10 Million Milestone is a significant achievement – one that could not have been accomplished without the support of a great number of people and organisations,” explains Noonan. “This milestone is not just about dollars, it’s about impact. It represents years of community-building, partnerships, and a shared belief in what we can achieve together.”

In celebration of all that’s been achieved together, the Foundation is inviting community members to nominate the charitable organisation that they think is deserving of an extra $10,000.

The grant can be used by the winning organisation in any way that best supports their work, with the only requirement being a follow-up report to the Foundation as to how the funds were used.

Nominations can be made online before 5pm on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee and scored based on community impact, number and quality of nominations, and other factors. Five shortlisted organisations will be announced on Wednesday, May 28th. Nominees must be registered charitable organisations operating in the Prince George Region to qualify.

The shortlisted candidates will be celebrated through the Foundation’s online platforms, leading up to 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 5th, when one deserving recipient will be drawn from the shortlisted nominees.

“This grant is our way of celebrating the generosity of Prince George — and empowering the community to recognise the organisations making a difference right now,” adds Noonan.
